 SteelCrete Floor/Roof System
| |
This is the newest light gauge framing member with proprietary stamped tabs that act as the embedment in thinshell concrete panels. This method is faster, less expensive, and yet stronger than all its alternatives and does not require ICBO approval or evaluation report or testing. The product is poured face-down, and may be precast or sitecast. The top flange acts as a stop, and the remaining, protruding part of the member is the embedded stud or joist for walls, floors and roofs. Insulation is conventionally installed in the stud bays.

|
The SBS panels are framed with metal studs or joists and track. The walls can be pre-fabricated in a plant or onsite cast on the building slab. The concrete skin is 2" thick. The studs and plates are usually 6" X 16 gauge. The steel is attached to the concrete by an L tab that is punched out of the side flange of the studs and plates. The tabs are embedded into the concrete by using the building slab as a casting bed, similar to tiltup casting methods. The panels do not use rebar but use wire mesh. The resulting product is a lightweight building panel that has a finished outside surface and a studded inside surface. On the inside, this allows electrical, plumbing and insulation to be installed before standard drywall is attached to the studs. The outside can be cast with feature strips or any decorative fancy a form can give. There are various methods of creating a thermal break for colder climates. |
